I have been doing swimming lessons with Ben since he was itty bitty... we go every Thursday and I have to say he is getting GOOOOOD! He goes under without fuss or even a wink at least a few times during the lesson, he does "kickers", "scoopers", and "pancakes" (on his back). I am so happy he loves the water because I love to swim and it's important to me (notice ME putting MY values on my kid here) that he learns to swim. Not just for fun, but also for safety in the future.
Here's bath time tonight - guess the lessons are paying off!

Early Birthday gift
Our fantastic friends The Bridges, sent Mr. Ben an early birthday gift -- it arrived last Friday and we decided to open it knowing that he will be inundated this week and weekend with more gifts, so we thought it was okay... our lives have never been the same since.
Let me just start by saying that Ben is obsessed with trash trucks (the real ones)... as luck would have it, my day off with him is on Thursdays, which just happens to be trash day at the Caputo's... he eagerly looks forward to when Armando (yes, we're on a first name basis with our trash guys) heads up the road, gets out of his truck and gives Ben "knuckes" or a "high 5". Then, Ben watches as they dump all the trash into their truck. As they drive off, Armando honks the big horn for Ben and waves goodbye... Ben then proceeds to point out every single trash truck on the road for the rest of the week until it's trash day and talks incessantly about all things trash.
Ok, you have the picture, yes? So, you can imagine his pure delight when we opened the box from the Bridge's and it was his very own TRASH TRUCK! This thing is amazing... totally motorized, it lifts the green bin on a belt to the top when you push the lever, dumps the green bin and then you can collect whatever you've just dumped out of the back of the truck. It really is pretty cool. It also honks and tells you that it's "ready for the dump". He is obsessed with it and I've never seen a toy hold his attention like this thing can. We have now gone through 3 sets of batteries in less than a week.... again, obsessed!

From one event to the next...
This weekend has been a total whirlwind of events...Friday night was the Community Counseling & Education Center’s 25th Gala Fundraiser – I’m on the board and was the committee chair for the silent auction… it was a huge amount of work and the event couldn’t have gone better. It was SO much fun and I’m thrilled it’s over! You can read more about Friday night's event by clicking HERE. It was such an incredible evening and it took much of Saturday to recover from the energy poured out on Friday night... here area few photos from the night…
Saturday night, we had the honor of attending our dear friends, Stan Krome & Joanna Morgan's renewal of their wedding vows - 20 years! It was a delightful, thoughtful, detailed ceremony at their gorgeous house that sits right on the ocean. He sang to her, she read poetry to him and the food was TO DIE FOR! Amazing friends that we cherish! Needless to say, we were in bed last night before 10 pm as 2 nights of 2 parties makes for 2 very tired bodies.

Happy Birthday Colin

Cooking
Ben's new obsession is cooking - I got him a 100 piece food set at Target for $10 and our friends, the Masci's who pass on lots of fun toys to us gave Ben a cooking set just his size. Here's what he does with it....
New York City
Whew! It's been a crazy few weeks - Steve went to New York last week with his buddies on a boys getaway and hijacked my camera, so I haven't been taking pics or keeping up with the blog -- Ben is still cute as a button and doing many cute things. The cutest (or most irritating, I haven't decided yet) is that literally every 4th sentence out of his mouth is "BEN DO IT". Oy! Independence at it's finest!
Steve had a great trip & we survived without him, but boy do I have an appreciation for double parenting and constantly stand in awe of single parents out there - not sure how they do it. I thought I'd include some of his shots - he was in search of his family roots and visited the cemetary where much of his ancestors have been buried, which was very cool for him as he doesn't know many of his relatives.... oh ya, and they hit 2 Yankee Games, 1 Mets Game, did a Brooklyn Pizza tour and took in the sights/sounds/smells of good ol' NYC! He brought Ben back a yellow, stuffed taxicab – Ben promptly put it in his mouth and ate it… seems like the perfect ending to their trip as 80% of their pictures were of food!
